TWO NEW BABIES RECEIVED THIS WEEK An Uncle and a Granny, both from remote villages, brought in 2 very malnourished orphaned infants to our milk program on Thursday. Baby boy, Nedo, is 4 months old, while the 2nd boy, Bonito, is 7 months old and they both weighed exactly the same, 3.3kg / 7.2 pounds! Very bad indeed! I rushed them both to the hospital, where they were examined by our Nutritionist MD. BABY BONITO is in critical condition due to his very low-weight, bloodless body (4.9 Hemoglobin), and he has malaria! The Grandmother cried when she heard this, as she knew her grandson may not live. We promised her that we would support her with all she and Bonito needed if she would admit the baby to the hospital for treatment. (Sorry, no photo). With our promise of help, she consented to stay in hospital, as she is from a village over 40km/24 miles away, with no family nearby to help her. The lab helped me organize blood for his emergency transfusion which he is receiving as I write. JESUS IS OUR HOPE AND HEALER, SO PLEASE JOIN US IN DECLARING LIFE OVER THIS LITTLE ONE! BABY NEDO is suffering from severe gastrointestinal inflammation, as we do not know what the family has been feeding this 4‑month-old, but it obviously wasn’t good for him. Nedo’s Uncle says the infant’s Grandmother was caring for him, but she has become debilitated and isn’t functioning well. The Uncle released the infant to us, and promised to return next week to provide the Birth Certificate. Nedo is now under the care of Foster Mother Alzira. She is caring for him in the empty boy’s room of the New Toddler House since he needs isolation for his own safety and ours. We must be sure he didn’t bring any other diseases with him. He was given Probiotics and 24 hours later, his tiny tummy is soft and slightly less distended, Praise the Lord! |

JUMAIDA AND REGENIA REMAIN IN HOSPITAL Jumaida started with diarrhea and must continue on IV fluids, as she takes only small amounts to eat or drink. Regenia’s malaria smear says she still has a small amount of malaria larvae in her blood, so must receive 3 more days of treatment. (Sorry, no photo while in the hospital.) PLEASE KEEP ALL 3 OF THESE LITTLE ONES IN YOUR PRAYERS, for they are still fighting to regain their health. CIS TEAM PARTY WITH A SURPRISE! Last Saturday the CIS TEAM, who provides our children with a delicious high protein meal every other Saturday, showed up with a special surprise. The gift was 2 cases of a highly nutritious chocolate milk called MILO, from South Africa. Just add warm water, and you have a delicious hot chocolate drink! |
CIS donates 2 cases of high protein chocolate drink to our children. |
The meal was very nutritious as usual with rice, chicken legs, and large meat balls along with salad and dessert. The finger foods are always a big hit with our toddler group, as they think there is nothing better than chicken legs! Our entire staff is very grateful for this high protein meal which helps our children build stronger bodies. |
Our family, patiently waiting for their super delicious lunch by the CIS TEAM. |
