BEAN BUYING BEGINS For the next 10 days our entire staff will be up to their ears in beans, no joke! We need 1,800 sacks (110 tons) of beans this year to meet the needs of the orphans we assist. On Friday, 600 of those sacks came in, with the other 1,200 coming in on Monday and Tuesday. If all goes as planned, our team of 90 men will begin preparing the beans for long term storage on Wednesday. That will take about 4 days if all goes smoothly. |
Bean buying begins with first 600 sacks in the barn. It is heavy work, as each sack is 132 lbs./60 kg. |
I say all that to let you know that my Blogs will be short and to the point till the end of July. Our staff will spend many hours processing the 500+ TONS of beans, corn, rice, and peanuts, as well as keeping up with child care needs, and duties necessary to keep the mission operating smoothly.Thank you very much for your prayers and understanding during these weeks of heavy-duty work. BUTTERNUT FUN FOR THE KIDS! On Wednesday, our children were treated to a delivery of 50 very sweet Butternut Squash that put a smile on their faces. Our USA donor provides the children with these tasty treats each month, provided they are available. This donor also provides each of our 7 children’s homes with 2 large, tasty frozen chickens every other Saturday (14 fat, frozen chickens each time). Increasing the protein of our children’s diets is very important since most are still underweight for their age. THANK YOU to our donor for providing healthy squash for the children! |

Sorry, but that is all I have time for this week. Keep us in your prayers, as food buying takes a massive amount of organization by Office Manager Capena and myself. It runs smoothly most of the time, because the 2 of us are very experienced in doing this over the last 15 years, but it is still a lot of hard work. No 2 years are ever the same. Many Blessings, BUSH BUNNY BRENDA LANGE AND THE BALAMA STAFF |
