ERGILCIA HAS AN 8 HGB THIS WEEK!  This is noth­ing short of a mir­a­cle! Last week she had a 7.6 Hgb, so God is show­ing mer­cy on this lit­tle one. Ane­mia is slow to respond and cor­rect itself, so the hos­pi­tal said to keep doing what we are doing and return in 30 days to check her Hgb.I am over­joyed to see even a lit­tle improve­ment in her blood work. Her tests also showed she has the begin­nings of a res­pi­ra­to­ry infec­tion, even though she showed no out­ward signs of con­ges­tion. She is now tak­ing Clava­mox for infants to coun­ter­act it before it becomes worse. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PRAYERS, AND PLEASE KEEP THEM COMING! We are far, far from being 100% healthy, but it is a start!

2‑month-old Rosel­da with Fos­ter Moth­er Estevania.

THIRD INFANT SINCE CHRISTMAS DAY Baby Rosel­da is 2 months old, and only weighs 4.2kg/9.2lbs. (very mal­nour­ished). She is not an orphan, but a high risk infant since her moth­er is men­tal­ly ill. The fam­i­ly feared she might harm the infant, so Roselda’s Aunt res­cued her. Since she need­ed for­mu­la, Social Ser­vices sent her to join our Infant For­mu­la Pro­gram. The Aunt tried her best to care for Rosel­da, but she is elder­ly, and unable to han­dle the demands of an infant.

She walked into our mis­sion sta­tion with Rosel­da late last Fri­day, ask­ing for more milk, as the 2 cans we gave her were almost emp­ty. I real­ized then that this woman was not able to cope. The staff spoke to her about leav­ing Rosel­da with us. The Aunt final­ly agreed, and released the child into our care. Being with­out prop­er milk for some time, Rosel­da showed us all just how much a tiny body could con­sume in 1 day! She is hap­py and healthy after a week with us, and we are very grate­ful for her fast recov­ery.
