BABY SOPHIA, FIRST BABY TO JOIN US IN 2026 Baby Sophia’s Grand­moth­er pre­sent­ed this infant to us on Thurs­day morn­ing weigh­ing only 4kg/8.8 lbs. at 4 MONTHS of age. Direc­tor Anna and I imme­di­ate­ly whisked the infant off to the hos­pi­tal. She is very weak and in crit­i­cal con­di­tion due to dehy­dra­tion and diar­rhea, as she bare­ly con­sumed a small amount of for­mu­la. The hos­pi­tal staff placed an IV catheter in her hand, and imme­di­ate­ly start­ed flu­ids with med­ica­tion to com­bat the diar­rhea. The Grand­moth­er read­i­ly agreed to turn the infant over to us, hop­ing we could save her. We are doing all we can for her in hopes that she will respond quick­ly to treat­ment. Prayers for her are great­ly need­ed to speed up her recovery.

OSTRICH HOUSE KIDDOS WANTED A PHOTO TAKEN Ostrich House boasts 6 large bed­rooms and 15 chil­dren from 2 to 5 years of age. I went by to greet them this week, and sud­den­ly all the chil­dren disappeared.Seems one of the 9 moth­ers who cares for this high ener­gy group, told them that if they sat on the veran­da, that I might take their pic­ture. I turned around from talk­ing to the head moth­er, and saw this. How could I refuse such a great opportunity!

It’s not often that these squirmy lit­tle bod­ies to sit still long enough to get them all in one pho­to! BABY SURAIA SITTING INDEPENDENTLY AT 8 MONTHS I am always amazed at how tough these lit­tle ones are. Sura­ia was born in May in a remote farm­ing field. Her moth­er was alone when she went into labor and passed away just min­utes after birthing her. Suraia’s father found them both with the infant’s umbil­i­cal cord still attached to his wife, who was no longer alive. I can­not imag­ine what this man went through, hav­ing to com­plete the deliv­ery of Sura­ia while deal­ing with the shock of los­ing his wife. Since the fam­i­ly had no adult females who could care for a new­born, Social Ser­vices brought the infant to us when she was 8 days old.

She is now thriv­ing as a healthy, hap­py infant in the care of our Head House Moth­er, Gilda.
