BABY SOPHIA, FIRST BABY TO JOIN US IN 2026 Baby Sophia’s Grandmother presented this infant to us on Thursday morning weighing only 4kg/8.8 lbs. at 4 MONTHS of age. Director Anna and I immediately whisked the infant off to the hospital. She is very weak and in critical condition due to dehydration and diarrhea, as she barely consumed a small amount of formula. The hospital staff placed an IV catheter in her hand, and immediately started fluids with medication to combat the diarrhea. The Grandmother readily agreed to turn the infant over to us, hoping we could save her. We are doing all we can for her in hopes that she will respond quickly to treatment. Prayers for her are greatly needed to speed up her recovery.

OSTRICH HOUSE KIDDOS WANTED A PHOTO TAKEN Ostrich House boasts 6 large bedrooms and 15 children from 2 to 5 years of age. I went by to greet them this week, and suddenly all the children disappeared.Seems one of the 9 mothers who cares for this high energy group, told them that if they sat on the veranda, that I might take their picture. I turned around from talking to the head mother, and saw this. How could I refuse such a great opportunity!
![]() Amazing that they all stayed still for this photo. |
It’s not often that these squirmy little bodies to sit still long enough to get them all in one photo! BABY SURAIA SITTING INDEPENDENTLY AT 8 MONTHS I am always amazed at how tough these little ones are. Suraia was born in May in a remote farming field. Her mother was alone when she went into labor and passed away just minutes after birthing her. Suraia’s father found them both with the infant’s umbilical cord still attached to his wife, who was no longer alive. I cannot imagine what this man went through, having to complete the delivery of Suraia while dealing with the shock of losing his wife. Since the family had no adult females who could care for a newborn, Social Services brought the infant to us when she was 8 days old.

She is now thriving as a healthy, happy infant in the care of our Head House Mother, Gilda.
