BABY ROSILDA, 4 MONTHS OLD, HAS SERIOUS MALARIA For 3 weeks, we have battled Rosilda’s malaria. First, with 2 different kinds of oral malaria meds, then finally taking her to the hospital for IV treatment on Wednesday. She awoke that day from her mid-day nap crying, and wouldn’t take a bottle. Her temperature was 38C under the arm, about 101F. She was one sick little baby, but thanks to the Emergency Room staff, her fever broke and she calmed down after IV medications were started.

Thursday morning after her Glucose IV and taking oral medications to settle her stomach, she finally began to eat a little and drank her entire 3 ounces of milk. Baby steps for sure as we take it one day at a time. Your prayers are much appreciated as we must have her on treatment for a full 7 days to make sure the malaria is gone. Praying her blood count holds so she won’t need any blood.

DIGGING A SEPTIC TANK HELPS FIX OUR ROADS Might seem like a strange combination, but this week our construction crew began digging the large septic tank for House #8. This is the perfect time to dig any hole, as the ground is soft, but not mushy from all the rains. This is a large hole as you can see in the photo, and when finished it will be 4 meters/13 feet deep.

The heavy rains during January and February always leave behind washed out areas on our dirt roads. So, the dirt from the septic tank will be put to good use filling in the mud holes in the roads leading to our mission station.

THANKS FOR YOUR PRAYERS AS THE RAINS HAVE REDUCED TO LIGHT RAINS! We even had a whole 24 hours this week WITHOUT RAIN. Now it feels more like March! This week the BBC went out all week, and the crops are beginning to dry out. Makes me a Hoppy Bunny for sure! BLESSINGS, BUSH BUNNY BRENDA LANGE AND THE BALAMA STAFF
