| MALARIA THREATENS MORE THAN BABIES Foster Mother Franquina in Baby House #7 (Leopard House) came down with a serious case of malaria on Monday that tried to go Cerebral. When Head House Mother Gilda called me at 7pm, Franquina was delirious and had a high fever that hit very suddenly. I called in 2 of our men and then several mothers. It took 5 people to carry her out to my King Cab as a delirious person is not easy to manage. The Emergency Room Director met us at the hospital, and immediately started her on IV fluids and IV anti-malaria medications. Within 30 minutes she was resting calmly, as she has been thrashing around the bed before treatment was started. TUESDAY NIGHT, I was called out to the Girls House for school-age children. Sixteen-year-old ANGELICA was found unresponsive in her bed after she had eaten supper and taken a bath. She had a high fever, so Foster Father Samuel picked her up like she was a baby and carried her to my King Cab. Once again, we met the ER Director at the hospital, who immediately started her on IV fluids and IV anti-malaria medications. THANKFULLY, BOTH FRANQUINA AND ANGELICA recovered quickly and were released on Wednesday morning. They both remain on oral anti-malaria treatments at our home and are doing well. With a sigh of relief, we all took a deep breath and relaxed, but it didn’t last long! |

| WEDNESDAY at Noon, Toddler Milagre, who’s in a cast with the fractured femur, started with vomiting and diarrhea again! His fever then elevated, as we rushed him to the hospital. Blood test showed that HIS MALARIA from 2 weeks ago had not been wiped out by the medications! He is still in the hospital and is expected to be there at least 5 days for IV treatment. On Thursday morning, Milagre started to drink and eat without vomiting. On Friday, his diarrhea had greatly decreased, so we were very happy with his progress. |

| Keep him in your prayers for a rapid recovery. He was due to have his cast off on Monday, but that will now be delayed until he can make the trip to Montepuez (60km/30 miles) away for his final x‑ray and cast removal. It’s been a busy week, but we are happy that Jesus answered our prayers, and that all those affected by malaria are improving in strength and appetite. CIS LEADER DONATES CHILDREN’S CLOTHES TO OUR LITTLE ONES CIS Leader Dragon returned from his holiday last week, and surprised us with 2 large boxes of clothing for our children. |

BABY DOMINGOS LOVES TO PLAY BALL Your Love Gifts provide toys that puts a smile on our children’s faces. Domingas is only 13 months old, but is walking and trying to play ball. He hasn’t quite figured out the catching part, but he’s definitely good at throwing the ball! |
