RESISTANT MALARIA A PROBLEM IN BALAMA

wpid1976-DSCN0311.jpg Lit­tle Domini­ca, one of orphans, is now in the ICU of our Bala­ma hos­pi­tal with a malar­ia fever that didn’t respond to the nor­mal drug treat­ment of Coartem. She is one of 5 chil­dren I per­son­al­ly know of, who has suf­fered with this prob­lem since Jan­u­ary. When the malar­ia bug becomes stronger than the drugs to treat it, they call that resis­tance. In our area where treat­ment choic­es are lim­it­ed, that can be dead­ly. PRAISE THE LORD that so far, every child has has respond to the IV drugs being used to stop this malar­ia from becom­ing a child killer. Your prayers are need­ed for the chil­dren of Mozam­bique, for many live in remote areas where these life­sav­ing drugs do not exist.

BASKETBALL COURT TO BE COMPLETED TODAY

Today, after all the work­ers are gone at noon, I’m off to vis­it the goats in Rovu­ma, a 5 minute dri­ve down the road. As I’m leav­ing the goat pens, I get a call from the hos­pi­tal, say­ing a woman has deliv­ered her baby IN THE ROAD, down near my house. Would I please pick her up and bring her to the hos­pi­tal? So hit the flash­ers on my truck and instant­ly, I’m an ambu­lance! I had one of my Pas­tors with me, and PTL for that! as I need­ed an inter­preter with this one. We race back to Bala­ma, and final­ly locate the woman. Some­one at the mar­ket where she had the baby, took her into their mud hut until we could get there. Baby was doing fine but the moth­er is an old­er lady and she didn’t look too strong. So we helped them into the truck, and off we went for the 1 mile ride down the road to the hos­pi­tal. When the Lord said we should be “instant in sea­son” He wasn’t just talk­ing about being ready to preach. We must be ready for WHATEVER COMES OUR WAY.
