GATOR CHASERS I KNOW OF, BUT A GATOR BIKER?
Not sure how comfortable a ride this is sitting on those gator spines, but it definitely gets everyone’s attention! So this one is for all my Louisiana friends! Give it a try and see how far you get before a cop stops you for having too much tail!
RESISTANT MALARIA A PROBLEM IN BALAMA
Little Dominica, one of orphans, is now in the ICU of our Balama hospital with a malaria fever that didn’t respond to the normal drug treatment of Coartem. She is one of 5 children I personally know of, who has suffered with this problem since January. When the malaria bug becomes stronger than the drugs to treat it, they call that resistance. In our area where treatment choices are limited, that can be deadly. PRAISE THE LORD that so far, every child has has respond to the IV drugs being used to stop this malaria from becoming a child killer. Your prayers are needed for the children of Mozambique, for many live in remote areas where these lifesaving drugs do not exist.
BASKETBALL COURT TO BE COMPLETED TODAY
When people ask me what is a “normal” day like here for me, I just laugh because a normal day doesn’t exist around here. Today, after all the workers are gone at noon, I’m off to visit the goats in Rovuma, a 5 minute drive down the road. As I’m leaving the goat pens, I get a call from the hospital, saying a woman has delivered her baby IN THE ROAD, down near my house. Would I please pick her up and bring her to the hospital? So hit the flashers on my truck and instantly, I’m an ambulance! I had one of my Pastors with me, and PTL for that! as I needed an interpreter with this one. We race back to Balama, and finally locate the woman. Someone at the market where she had the baby, took her into their mud hut until we could get there. Baby was doing fine but the mother is an older lady and she didn’t look too strong. So we helped them into the truck, and off we went for the 1 mile ride down the road to the hospital. When the Lord said we should be “instant in season” He wasn’t just talking about being ready to preach. We must be ready for WHATEVER COMES OUR WAY.
