BABY SANTOS NOW 5 MONTHS WITH A HEFTY APPETITE! Granny Josephina decided this week it was time to return to Rovuma to care for her 5 older grandchildren who were orphaned when Baby Santos was born. Friends reported to us that the children were struggling under their uncle’s care, and really needed their granny. Granny Josephine with Uncle and 5 orphans. Baby Santos will remain in our care for a few more months, as he is just beginning to show consistent weight gain. Small for his age, Santos should gain weight at a faster pace now that he is eating rice cereal as well as the “high protein” HYPO Cereal we provide for underweight babies. Cute Baby Santos at 5 months. Note: I fly to S. Africa next week to fetch more Hypo Baby Cereal as our supply is running low due to the many additional babies that needed our help during the rainy season. TWINS NEED A HELPING HAND These 6 week old twins were registered into our “Helping Hand” program for non-orphan babies this week. Their birth Mom doesn’t have enough breast milk for 2 fast growing babies, so we contribute baby formula to supplement Mom’s milk until her little ones can eat.
Mom with twins needing baby formula so that both can live. This is a typical need for almost every Mom with twins. For those of you who have breast fed one hungry baby, you can totally understand the dilemma. VICTORY HOUSE’S FANCY BATHROOM ALMOST DONE Now most of you may have a different mental picture of what a “fancy” bathroom should look like, so I will clear the air with photos. Without running water, you keep it very simple, yet sanitary and private. You start by digging 2 very deep (16 ft.) holes, 4 ft. (1.2m) in circumference. Ring it with concrete bricks, then slap an already fabricated concrete toilet top on it. Now you have 2 “LONG DROPS” or “OUT HOUSES”, depending on which country you live in. Moz. “long drops” and 2 bathing areas. Put in 4 divider walls, and voila! You have a “fancy” bathing/toilet area that can serve 4 people at once. Victory House will serve a minimum of 12 children and 3 foster mothers, so extra bathrooms makes a happy household! Completed bathroom with septic and clothes washing area under construction. THANK YOU TO ALL AT VICTORY CHURCH IN TULSA FOR MAKING THIS NEW HOME POSSIBLE. We are moving at a fast pace, and will keep you updated as we work hard to complete the final “finishing” work.
