NINE-MONTH-OLD ADOLFO GRADUATES TO HEAVEN Adolfo has been with us since he was 2 weeks old. Severe malaria with complications hit his little system last Wednesday. With treatment, his malaria was destroyed 4 days later, but he failed to improve. Very unusual. |
Adolfo sleeping earlier this week as his energy was very low. |
On Monday he began coughing, and his respirations increased to 60 per minute. He was very, very weak and refusing to eat or drink. At 7pm Monday night, the head of the Emergency Room called me to say that Adolfo was now comatose, and not responding to pain. We all thought this was his end, BUT HE RALLIED, waking up at dawn to drink a bottle of formula! Nothing but a miracle in that! But our JOY was short lived as he began to fail again by Tuesday evening. At 7pm Wednesday night, his little heart stopped beating. We know he now has a new body and is playing in heaven with Jesus watching over him. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PRAYERS FOR ALL OUR VULNERABLE BABIES. PRAYERS NEEDED FOR 2 OTHER INFANTS IN HOSPITAL Malaria is now rampant in our area. Four-month-old Josina and the severely compromised 15-month-old Albertina are both in hospital for IV malaria treatment. Both have simple malaria and are doing OK. Marcelo, age 1, who was released from hospital on August 21st after a malaria bout, now has bronchial pneumonia. We are treating him at home, as he is in isolation for his safety. HE NEEDS URGENT PRAYER, AS THIS CAN BE COMPLICATED TO TREAT IN 1‑YEAR-OLDS. STUFFED TOYS FOR THE LITTLE ONES Wednesday, August 28th, stuffed animals were given out for the first time to all our little ones. Some were terrified of the cute, colorful animals, but most fell in love with their special critter. Enjoy the photos and videos, as I tried to catch those “kodak moments” that bring a smile to everyone’s face. |
Reality when introducing a new type of toy |
FYI: Stuffed animals are rare in this area, but 3 days ago, I spotted 2 men in our area who were selling them for $2/R36 each! Their boss from another town had sent them to Balama to see if these toys would sell. Most kids have never seen stuffed toys, so there was not much interest until they ran into me. It was all worth it to see the smiles on our children’s faces. |
The LITTLE LIONS are 1st to receive their funny animals. |
Milagre and Estalia didn’t understand why some were afraid of their toy. |
The Little Zebras with their toys. Several were too scared to even look at the toys. |
These inexpensive critters look a bit misshapen as they traveled to Mozambique compressed together into a large bale. But they will fluff up and look beautiful with the loving hugs from the children. Little did the toy donors know that they would end up making little orphans very happy in a remote part of Africa. THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS PURCHASE POSSIBLE THROUGH YOUR LOVE GIFTS!
