BUSH BUNNY IN ATLANTA, HEADED BACK TO MOZAMBIQUE!
It’s  April 14th, and this Bush Bun­ny will be in the air for 17 hours tonight, land­ing in Johan­nes­burg, South Africa tomor­row, then on to Mozam­bique on April 16th.
The tour went well, and I am excit­ed to get home to the new pro­grams God has for us this year.
MANY NEW PROGRAMS TO OPEN IN 2011
So fas­ten your seat belts because this new­ly ener­gized bun­ny is going to be hop­ping at dou­ble speed to do all that the Lord has shown us to do this year. 
1.     SMALL BUSINESS TRAINING for our orphans via goat pro­duc­tion projects and Chia seed pro­duc­tion (see arti­cle below).
 
2.      OPEN A NEW  MISSION in a coun­ty called Namuno (Nah-moo-nooh).
  Not one church or mis­sion exists in this coun­ty and the orphans are suf­fer­ing extreme mal­nu­tri­tion, beg­ging food or eat­ing trash on the streets.   They need a Jesus Res­cue, plain and sim­ple, and the Lord has ordered us to move out and do it.
MASSIVE FOOD BUYING STARTS MAY 1ST.
Four Amer­i­cans have ded­i­cat­ed their sum­mer to come help us FILL THE BARNS!  I’ve nev­er had this much help, and it is a BIG RELIEF, as this pro­gram is grow­ing quick­ly, and it is not pos­si­ble for Eric and I to han­dle all the aspects of this inten­sive pro­gram our 1,600 orphans and 600 wid­ows depend on.
A 6 per­son Michi­gan team is com­ing in July who will help us evan­ge­lize and hope­ful­ly plant a new church in a remote village.
CHIA SEED PRODUCTION CAN BRING JOBS AND HIGH PROTEIN FOOD TO MOZAMBIQUE
Two big chal­lenges we have are pro­tein mal­nu­tri­tion and a lack of jobs for our old­er orphans. 
Three weeks ago, I was intro­duced to LIFEMAX who pro­vide jobs in 3rd world coun­tries to those who want to grow a par­tic­u­lar specie of Chia seeds, the only ingre­di­ent in their 100% raw food called MILA.
Dur­ing my research on Life­max, I heard some fas­ci­nat­ing tes­ti­monies from MDs and oth­ers in the health field about Mila, so bought a bag and tried it. 
With­in 10 days, I had lost 6 lbs. (it helps dump that excess mid­dle age spare tire), and a whole inch in my waist!  I had been gain­ing weight steadi­ly as the mid­dle age bulge had caught up with this bun­ny, even though I was only eat­ing rice and beans!
My ener­gy and ENDURANCE increased so that I could work hard for 16 hours!  Nor­mal­ly, I was wiped out in 12.  Any­one who knows me can tell you that this bun­ny lost her hop at dark, and was in bed by 7pm.  Now I’m up at 4a.m. (my nor­mal wake up time), and I go strong till about 9pm each night.  When I say STRONG, I mean full out go, go, go, as this bun­ny is a doer that likes to get things done NOW! J  That’s one of the rea­sons God gave me the assign­ment to res­cue orphans.  Orga­niz­ing and get­ting a job done are 2 of the gifts He gave me.
WE ARE VERY EXCITED ABOUT THIS, as Chia plants can pro­duce 3–4 harvest/year and it GROWS BEST between the equa­tor and the Trop­ic of Capri­corn.  North­ern Moz. is IN THAT ZONE, PTL!
The Pres­i­dent of Life­max had her office call me 2 days ago, and they will be con­tact­ing me in May to tell me more about what they can do to help our kids pro­duce Chia.  More info will be released on this project as it develops.

BUSH BUNNY’S HOUSE ROBBED IN MOZAMBIQUE
 
Some­time last night, a child with at least one adult, broke into the back of my bed­room at our mis­sion sta­tion in Moz. An axe was used to pry open one of the sol­id wood shut­tered win­dows. (they left the axe behind as proof of how they got in).
Foot­prints from a small child, approx­i­mate­ly 10 years old, were found below the window.
The shut­ters are too nar­row for even a small adult to climb through.
 
The pre­scrip­tion med­ica­tions online room was com­plete­ly ran­sacked with all my clothes and oth­er items pulled out of box­es and suit­cas­es onto the floor.
With­out me being there, it will be hard to deter­mine exact­ly what all they took.
 
For sure, the elec­tron­ics were taken.

Any­one who has been robbed while away on a trip, knows that it is very upset­ting and leaves one feel­ing very vio­lat­ed and angry. 
We have 2 night guards on duty plus 4 dogs, but who­ev­er did this knew the guard rou­tine, and knew to stay on the side of the house where the guard dogs would have dif­fi­cul­ty hear­ing them.
 
All that can be done now is to add more secu­ri­ty to the win­dows and have the guards make more round each night to make sure no one can sneak up on the my house .
 
At the moment, I’m in Tul­sa for the week, as my out of state speak­ing tour is just beginning.
I’m mak­ing new friends, as am now “men­tor­ing” mis­sion­ar­ies who desire to start orphan fos­ter care pro­grams in 3 countries.

Fos­ter care is the most LOVING and prac­ti­cal way to care for 1000’s of orphans.  We at Orphans Unlim­it­ed know for a fact that God prefers His chil­dren be KEPT IN THEIR CULTURE, since He ordered me to do it that way in Moz.
Social Ser­vices from the nation­al gov­ern­ment lev­el inspect­ed us this year, giv­ing our pro­gram their high­est accom­mo­da­tion for our care of 1,600 orphans in fos­ter care.
They asked to use our pro­gram as a mod­el for oth­ers desir­ing to care for orphans in Moz.
I’m now shar­ing this infor­ma­tion with any mis­sion­ary desir­ing to care for orphans through­out Afric.
The mod­el will work in any coun­try in Africa.

BUSH BUNNY ARRESTED ON EVAC FLIGHT

My Christ­mas ill­ness had quite a few “quirks” that I did­n’t have the ener­gy to write in the last blog.

Shar­ing them with you will let you know that being evac­u­at­ed from Moz. with any ill­ness is no easy task.
NOW, for the “rest of the story”. 🙂

First, let me say we have an excel­lent evac group, and after this inci­dent, they pro­fuse­ly apoli­gized for the has­sles I expe­ri­enced, and now have a bet­ter under­stand­ing of how com­plex Moz. can be.

On Sat­ur­day, Jan. 1st I was dri­ven by Cape­na, my pro­gram direc­tor to Pem­ba (5 hour drive).
A pri­vate hosp­tial exists in Pem­ba, so I went there for the best treat­ment Pem­ba doc­tors can offer.
Hos­pi­tal­ized overnight in this clean but sim­ple clin­ic, they did the best they could for me.
The Doc­tor rec­og­nized that I had an acute abdomen and need­ed bet­ter diag­nos­tic means than they had.

Evac­u­a­tion plans were made, and even though I was very weak, the Dr. approved me going out on a COMMERCIAL air­line via Maputo the next day.
Our nor­mal route is Pem­ba to Maputo to Johan­nes­burg (7 hour flight with the lay­over in Maputo).
LAM gives lit­tle med­ical sup­port, such as a wheel­chair, so I knew I would be on my own, and I was­n’t thrilled about it.

I was told there were no seats on the above flight, and that I would be rout­ed through Tan­za­nia, to Kenya and then on to South AFrica, arriv­ing 11 hours lat­er at MIDNIGHT!
I REFUSED!
Call­ing MAF in Nam­pu­la (based 45 min. flight south of us), they told me they could fetch me, and get me on the Nam­pu­la — Maputo- Joburg flight leav­ing at 12:40pm that day (5 hours fly­ing time to S. Africa).
My evac com­pa­ny agreed to this, and pur­chased an E tick­et via the internet.
(What they did­n’t real­ize is that the LAM com­put­er did­n’t accept their cred­it card payment.)

MAF made excel­lent time to Pem­ba to fetch me, and land­ed in Nam­pu­la with 5 min­utes to spare!
At check in, the com­put­er showed the tick­et was good, so I was giv­en my board­ing pass!

One hour into the flight, I’m sum­mons to the flight deck, and told I was ILLEGALLY on the plane as I did­n’t pay for my ticket!
I told them about the evac, but they treat­ed me like a criminal.
I was told to sit in my seat, and that I bet­ter not move when the oth­ers got off the plane.
A 3 per­son escort was sent to take me to the LAM office where I could pay CASH for the tick­et OR GO TO JAIL.
The 2nd part of my tick­et to RSA was canceled.

Before leav­ing Pem­ba, I had planned to give my extra Mozam­bi­can cash to Cape­na, but felt a STRONG CHECK in my spir­it from the Lord Jesus telling me to keep the cash with me.
Because of this obe­di­ance, I had the need­ed cash with me and was able to pay for the entire tick­et to Johan­nes­burg. ($558)

Doing all this while very weak from the “com­pli­cat­ed malar­ia” was not easy, but God gave me the strength.
GOD IS ALWAYS THERE AND FAITHFUL TO CARRY US THROUGH THE ROUGH SPOTS!

I am back in Bala­ma at full force .
With only 11 days before my depar­ture from Moz. on Jan. 19th, I am busy orga­niz­ing the work at the mission.
Eric Dry returned with me, and is busy get­ting our 2011 DVD sto­ry ready to show you.

In South Africa, I have planned a relax­ing 4 day retreat before com­ing to the USA.
Expe­ri­ence has taught me that once I get to the USA, there just isn’t time for a break.

I great­ly appre­caite the 40+ Buy Xeni­cal peo­ple respond­ed with “get well” notes.
Due to lim­it­ed time, I’m not able to answer every­one individually.

Sub­ject: BBB update

On Christ­mas night, I came down with malaria.
Due to an inabil­i­ty to drink enough to keep hydrat­ed, I was admit­ted to the
Pem­ba hos­pi­tal for IV treat­ment.  The malar­ia was suc­cess­ful­ly killed out,
but the result was a bow­el block­age from being too dehy­drat­ed for 3 days.
Pem­ba is very lim­it­ed on the drugs they have, and had noth­ing to unblock it.
MISSIONS AVIATION FELLOWSHIP and GLOBAL RESCUE orga­nized to get me out on a
com­mer­cial air­line on Sun­day, weak but able to man­age to get to South
Africa for treatment.

The only flight avail­able was in Nam­pu­la due to hol­i­day traffic.
MAF picked flew out with only a 5 minute notice and got on line phar­ma­cy me to Nam­pu­la in
time to catch the com­mer­cial flight with 5 min­utes to spare!
Made for an excit­ing morn­ing to say the least.

A night in a great South African ER had every­thing under con­trol within
sev­er­al hours.
My thanks to Glob­al Res­cue for all the assis­tance they gave in get­ting the
flight and hos­pi­tal organized.

I will be fly­ing back to Moz. on Jan. 5th with Eric Dry, my Associate
Director.

Prayer played a BIG part in my fast recov­ery and the fact that surgery was
not need­ed to fix the problem.
I thank ALL of you for your prayers.
I felt God’s peace on me dur­ing the entire “adven­ture”.
This is one I have no desire to repeat for sure!
I will be releas­ing my USA speak­ing tour sched­ule in the next 2 weeks.

BUSH BUNNY SPEAKING TOUR FOR 2011

Eric’s knee is doing remark­ably well as he is now 30 days post op.
We thank all of you for your prayers and love gifts that made this
pos­si­ble.  Unknown to all of us, Eric had devel­oped Type B Dia­betes which
was uncov­ered because of this surgery.  His blood sug­ar is now stabilizing
in the nor­mal range, and he is expect­ed to return in ear­ly January.

Because of this, I am now expect­ed to arrive in the USA late January.

MELUCO ORPHAN CENTER TO EXPAND
 
The last 3 days I’ve been on the road, as the new Admin­is­tra­tor of Melu­co Coun­ty asked to meet with me.
Jose has just been trans­ferred from 2nd in charge of anoth­er coun­ty to 1st in charge of Melu­co Coun­ty and he has a great heart for kids.
He was con­cerned for 9 orphans who were dis­missed from our pro­gram 2 years ago by local gov­ern­ment offi­cials who did­n’t like them liv­ing near our mis­sion sta­tion (1 mile out of town).
We offered to buy a house in town and move the kids, but were told the kids were bet­ter off with their fam­i­ly, (who had dumped them on the street to eat garbage).
So these 9 orphans, ages 4–11, received our food but had no one to care for them over the last 2 years.
The old­est girl of 11 mar­ried a man at 13 just to get a roof over her head.
 
After hear­ing our report, the Admin­is­tra­tor gave us per­mis­sion to orga­nize a new home near our mis­sion sta­tion and fetch the 8 remain­ing children.
We are all amazed that none of them died of neglect!
Syl­vai wast­ed no time in check­ing out the area for a house to buy but none are available.
Land is plen­ti­ful in this area, so we plan to pur­chase a lot near our mis­sion ($100) and rapid­ly build a home of “pao pickey”.
This is a fence post laced with bam­boo type of con­struc­tion that is then plas­tered with cement and paint­ed to seal the Buy Xeni­cal Online walls.
It can be built in a mat­ter of 10 days and will serve as a great home for the kids, as it is super solid.
The rainy sea­son is upon us, so tim­ing is crit­i­cal since the rains are expect­ed to start in mid November.
 
GOD HAS MADE A WAY for these lit­tle ones and we are all so, so happy!
Under our new Coun­ty Leader, our assis­tance to the orphans with­out fam­i­ly will now thrive!
 
ERIC is doing well at 2 weeks post op and begins addi­tion­al phys­i­cal ther­a­py on Oct. 25th.
Keep your prayers com­ing, as his blood sug­ar is still unsta­ble, and he’s feel­ing very tired due to all the changes his body is feeling.
 
Will be a busy week in Bala­ma as we hope to put the fin­ish­ing touch­es on the new orphans hous­es and get the kids moved.
The bull­doz­ers have worked all around us (as we prayed they would stay away a few more days).
Doors and wid­ows go in and then most of the kids can move to their new places.
