Subject: BBB update
On Christmas night, I came down with malaria.
Due to an inability to drink enough to keep hydrated, I was admitted to the
Pemba hospital for IV treatment. The malaria was successfully killed out,
but the result was a bowel blockage from being too dehydrated for 3 days.
Pemba is very limited on the drugs they have, and had nothing to unblock it.
MISSIONS AVIATION FELLOWSHIP and GLOBAL RESCUE organized to get me out on a
commercial airline on Sunday, weak but able to manage to get to South
Africa for treatment.
The only flight available was in Nampula due to holiday traffic.
MAF picked flew out with only a 5 minute notice and got on line pharmacy me to Nampula in
time to catch the commercial flight with 5 minutes to spare!
Made for an exciting morning to say the least.
A night in a great South African ER had everything under control within
several hours.
My thanks to Global Rescue for all the assistance they gave in getting the
flight and hospital organized.
I will be flying back to Moz. on Jan. 5th with Eric Dry, my Associate
Director.
Prayer played a BIG part in my fast recovery and the fact that surgery was
not needed to fix the problem.
I thank ALL of you for your prayers.
I felt God’s peace on me during the entire “adventure”.
This is one I have no desire to repeat for sure!
I will be releasing my USA speaking tour schedule in the next 2 weeks.
Really looking forward to seeing all of you!
Blessings, BB Brenda
