MEET MONICA, A 4 YEAR OLD WITH A BIG HEART!
Monica was born with an enlarged heart on May 7, 2011, but that has never slowed her down. She is our “poster child” for PERSISTENCE AND PERSEVERANCE. Her small size never slows her down. She talks, sings, marches in with our Youth Choir, and plays with the intelligence of a 4 year old, even though her little body is only the size of a 2 year old. We at Orphans Unlimited are here to give all children a chance at the best life possible, and we never limit these children by what we “think” they can do, but empower them to achieve whatever GOD given talents they have. 
Monica loves to help at our weekly food distribution day.
When the food is in her Mom’s “caplana” (the cotton cloth used to carry all types of items), Monica imitates her Mom by trying to tie the corners together. The 90 second video clip shows our Saturday AWANA CLUB singing with Monica and Assane (mildly mentally retarded albino orphan). These 2 make a great pair, as their determination and energy to achieve the most from life are an inspiration to all of us.
RICE, PEANUTS, AND CORN BUYING ON JULY CALENDAR
July 1st will find us fetching rice still in the hull from villagers in the remote village of Maku. With 450 sacks distributed, we plan to weigh in 23 tons of rice by next Friday. The following week we will work on fetching 2 tons of peanuts as well as start the 2nd round of corn buying. July will be a busy month for sure.
ON A PERSONAL NOTE:
ERIC is now in South Africa, working to organize all the supplies that he will drive into us first week of August. Even though Eric will no longer live here in Balama, he will remain a big part of our team, helping us as our RSA liaison. Without his help, we would have a tough time bringing in essential life-saving supplies that our area doesn’t even carry. That said, I wanted to ask for a miracle for my Mom. She has been hospitalized with COPD (emphasema) for the last 3 months. Doctors give her no hope for recovery, but we know that we serve a powerful God who can heal ANY DISEASE. I ask for you to join us in agreement for a MIRACLE HEALING as she needs a new set of lungs. Her mind is sharp as a tack, but she struggles to talk without coughing. Both Katie and Hanna are working hard to pick up the added work load and learn Portuguese. Keep us all in your prayers as we continue to move forward with our village evangelism programs.
