CIS PARTY BECAME A BIRTHDAY PARTY! Luana, who lives in Pemba City was celebrating her 18th birthday last Saturday, and wanted to share it with our children. Her mother works at the local Graphite Mine, and organized this as a total surprise for our children and staff. Complete with 2 large Birthday Cakes and little gift bags for the children, this party was a blast! The children had their main meal, and were surprised with Luana’s Birthday cake for dessert. The mother had some of our children assist her in cutting the cake.
The wind was so strong that lighting the sparkler type candles was almost impossible. Didn’t matter to our children, as they were super happy to get a delicious cake for dessert. THANK YOU, LUANA, FOR SHARING YOUR LOVE WITH OUR CHILDREN. THEY ALL WENT HOME WITH BIG SMILES ON THEIR FACES. CHILDREN CRUNCHING CARROTS THIS WEEK The local carrot crop is finally harvested, and our supplier brought his first harvest load straight to our door. Our current 2‑year-olds don’t know about carrots as they were too young last year to eat them. This year they were our first stop for distribution, as I wanted to see their reaction to this yummy veggie. Since they never tasted them before, they weren’t impressed. Oh well. Hopefully next week when the 2nd carrot load is available, they will be more keen.
SURAIA ADMITTED TO HOSPITAL Suraia, now a year old, was birthed last year in a farming field just before her mother passed away. She has been living in the Leopard House for critical infants ever since. It was a big surprise when she spiked a very high fever of 102F/40C on Monday. It amazed me that she didn’t have a febrile seizure with that high of a temperature. Everyone thought it must be malaria, so she was taken to the hospital and given IV Paracetamol to bring it down while we waited on lab tests. Her Malaria test was negative, but she had a respiratory infection. Her temperature was normal the next a.m., so she was released and ordered to continue treatment for her respiratory infection at the Leopard House for our youngest infants.
WE THANK ALL OF YOU FOR YOUR CONTINUED PRAYERS FOR OUR CHILDREN, AS THIS EPISODE WITH SURAIA STUNNED US ALL. The devil comes to steal, kill, and destroy, (John 10:10), so we ask that you keep all of us covered in prayer, to prevent illnesses from attacking our children. BLESSINGS, BUSH BUNNY BRENDA LANGE AND THE BALAMA STAFF
