ABANDONED INFANT OUR NEWEST FAMILY MEMBER Victoria’s mother has both mental and physical disabilities, complicated by no breast milk. Social Services placed Victoria in our weekly milk program on August 24th, with the grandmother as caregiver. On September 17th, the 2‑month-old weighed only 2.8kg/16lbs. which is severe malnutrition.

Baby Victoria taking formula mixed with clean water.

She was brought to us by a 15-year-old girl in a very weak and severely dehydrated state (sunken fontanel) from diarrhea, most likely caused by unclean water being mixed with the infant formula. The girl caring for the infant reported that the entire family had abandoned the infant, telling her to care for Victoria. This was very frustrating to our entire staff, to say the least. We wasted no time in getting Victoria to the hospital where life-saving IV medications and fluids were immediately given.  Victoria is in critical condition but is slowly responding to the treatment. Capena, our office manager, took the teenage girl to find the family on Thursday. Once found, the family gave consent for the infant to stay with us, making her the youngest in our care at the moment.  Victoria needs fervent prayer, as her diarrhea continues even with the best meds. The hospital staff are concerned due to her very small and weakened state. I will keep you posted on her condition as we are watching for some sign of improvement. As of Friday, she is taking infant formula almost hourly, which is normal for a severely starved infant.THANK YOU for joining us in prayer for this little life. She didn’t ask for this, but at least she is safe now in our care because Jesus sent us to save his little ones.  BBC REAPING THE HARVEST Our three teams of Bush Bikers for Christ (BBC) youth evangelists taught Bible Stories in August to 29,511 children and teenagers. Children who received Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior were 1,359! Praise the Lord!

Our 3 teams of BBC Youth Evangelists.

The majority of these 29,511 children already know Jesus as their Savior, thanks to this program which has been ongoing for over 15 years. The majority of these young evangelists were just toddlers when I came to Balama 26 years ago. I find it amazing how the Lord works in raising up those who will follow him.   CIS FEAST PUT SMILES ON OUR CHILDREN’S FACES Here are a few photos of many smiling faces as our children received their cupcakes for dessert. Our family is quickly growing up!
