THE BABY RESCUES CONTINUE… On Tuesday, our newest infant, Baby Boy Bonito, 7.5 months old at 4kg/8.8 lbs., was released from the hospital after a 2 week stay. Admitted for malaria, his lab tests revealed a Hgb of only 4.9! YIKES! That is death’s door! He looked it too, as he was very weak, and not able to suck a bottle. He urgently needed blood, receiving his first of 2 blood transfusions on Good Friday. Now that he has a normal blood count, he sleeps peacefully in the arms of his new foster mother, Franquina. |

Jumaida remains in hospital with a low-grade fever, but her diarrhea has finally stopped. Please continue to pray for her as she is very weak and not eating or drinking much. She is still dependent on IV fluids to keep her hydrated, but is now being given an appetite stimulant to see if it will encourage her to eat and drink more. |
Baby Gilda and Grandparents. |
At 4pm on Tuesday, an elderly couple brought in 3.5‑month-old Baby Girl Gilda in desperate need of our milk program as she weighs only 4.2kg/9 lbs.!They live in a village 14km/8.1 miles away, and with sad voices told us that Gilda’s mother committed suicide, leaving them to attend to the baby. We immediately gave Gilda a bottle, and taught the Grandparent’s how to mix the milk, clean the bottles, etc. Suicide is not common in our area, and we are all still shocked that this happened to this nice family. |
Play Ball! Spring has sprung! |
AND THE BALL GAMES ARE ON! With the ending of the rainy season, it is time to break out the new rubber balls, and get down to some serious fun with our little ones!As you can see from the photos and video that our kids are serious about their ball playing. It was fun watching the youngest ones as it was their first time to see or play with a ball. |
Orlencia, left, and Estevania. First time to see a ball, and Orlencia’s eyes say “What is this?” |
