GOING THE EXTRA MILE
Storing 150+ TONS of corn in 5 days is quite a feat for 98 men! Having 1,300 of 2,500 sacks (132 lbs each/60kg) already in the barn from last week is the ONLY reason we could do it so quickly.
As you can imagine, this program consumed all our time this week.
Bales of 1000 sacks each are distributed to Pastors. A bale weighs over 100kgs (220 lbs.)
Offloading the corn.
OUR ENTIRE STAFF, PASTORS, BBC MOTORBIKE AND CONSTRUCTION TEAMS all pitch in by doing their normal jobs as well as their corn duties. EVERYONE goes the extra mile so that orphans in 2 Districts (counties) have what they need. STAFF not directly involved in the processing take over the jobs of others who are needed at the barns. IT’S TRULY A “FAMILY AFFAIR” SO THAT ORPHANS CAN STAY HEALTHY.
A crisp morning finds our guys hard at work as the sun peeks over the horizon.
On the second day of devotions this courageous young man asked to receive Jesus as his Savior. About half the men on our crew are already Christian. The photo is dark because we start 30 minutes prior to sunrise.
Pastors Gito and Fred lead new covert in prayer of salvation.
A few more bags and this 1000-sack stack will be full.
GENEROUS DONORS HAVE PROVIDED BULGING BARNS, and for that, we are truly grateful!
IT’S ALL ABOUT TEAM WORK AND THESE PICS PROVE IT!
FYI: The children are all fine, taking tests and preparing for school holidays.
Over the next 2 weeks, we will receive over 40 TONS of dried rice still in its hull. Then all of us can return to “normal” (if there is such a thing around here.) Distribution of food begins in early August.
Keep us in your prayers as we fill the barns with very healthy, unprocessed rice.
