BEANS, BEANS, AND MORE BEANS!
Over the course of only TWO DAYS our fabulous staff and team of pastors delivered 110 tons of beans from all over the county (District) with rented trucks. Processing followed over the next 3 days and those beans are now neatly stacked in our bean barn.
Job well done by our team, as their energy and ability to persevere till the job is done shows their love for the Lord and for the children.
Unloading the trucks at dawn. Sacks weigh 132lbs. (60kg)
Processing team moves 1 sack/minute through our gravity driven loading chutes.
Breakfast! 2 bread rolls and 2 fried bean patties spiced with chives and onions. Yummy!
CORN BUYING HAS BEGUN!
The beans were just a warm up for the corn! On Thursday, June 6, our 2 trucks hauled in 39 TONS OF CORN from nearby villages in only 7 hours! Those very sacks began falling through our processing chutes on Friday (June 7).
Topping off the first pillar of corn. Hard work but these men are super strong!
It will be a marathon this coming week as we prepare to move the final 2,000 sacks (120 TONS) through the chutes before my friend Dave Deboer has to fly back to the USA on June 15th. Barring any “hiccups” with our trucks, our teams are prepared to move 600+ sacks a day into our corn barn.
It’s a lot of work, but our team of 107 men make it look easy. They carry these 60kg (132lb.) sacks like you’d carry a bag of groceries.
Sat. June 8. First pillar complete. 576 sacks total.
We are a bit focused right now on this, as over 2000 orphans and widows depend on this food program. Meluco District (county) has a limited supply of food this year, so we are buying the extra food needed to support our 515 orphans in that area.
Our children are all studying hard–-from the pre-schoolers to the 12th grade. More about them next week. 😉
A blast from the past photo… this is why our team works so hard!
MY HEARTFELT THANKS TO ALL WHO CONTRIBUTE TO THIS HUGE ENDEAVOR TO FEED MANY HUNGRY TUMMIES. YOU ARE ALL A TRUE BLESSING TO THE LORD FOR SAVING HIS PRECIOUS LITTLE ONES.
BLESSINGS,
BUSH BUNNY BRENDA LANGE
AND THE BALAMA SUPER STAFF!
