FROM “BUSH BUNNY BRENDA” DATE: AUGUST 11, 2018 NO SALT! With Food Distributions starting last week, we had a MAJOR PROBLEM, for there is no bulk salt for sale in our area. WHY? Our salt comes from evaporated sea water. SUPER HIGH TIDES have prevented the evaporation process for the last several months, thus shutting down production. Last Tuesday, I announced to our Pastors
JOSEPH PROGRAM: 4 BARNS OF FOOD MAXED OUT AND READY TO DISTRIBUTE TO ORPHANS 800 SACKS OF RICE (40.4 TONS) rolled in this week to fill the remaining food space in barns 3 and 4. In 2004, God showed me how to provide for orphans during their time of hunger in the same way Joseph had provided for Israel during their 7 years of hunger. Thus, the JOSEPH
GOING THE EXTRA MILE Storing 150+ TONS of corn in 5 days is quite a feat for 98 men! Having 1,300 of 2,500 sacks (132 lbs each/60kg) already in the barn from last week is the ONLY reason we could do it so quickly. As you can imagine, this program consumed all our time this week. Bales of 1000 sacks each are distributed to Pastors. A bale weighs over 100kgs (220 lbs.)
BAWANA GAMES REMATCH ATTRACTS LARGE CROWD Catholic Sister Ligua (Lee-sha) and her Youth Team have been practicing their BAWANA GAMES, and demanded a rematch. These excited youngsters brought their friends, making for a BIG CROWD! Opening ceremony. Our team on left. Catholic team on right. About half of the 120 that showed up had never played before, so after the big competition we went “back to basics”, letting
DAVE LEAVES MANY SMILES IN BALAMA Hard to believe this year is half over, but know that Bush Bunny and her friend Dave DeBoer, made the most of his 27 days in Balama! By reorganizing many of our evangelical and children’s materials (a God given talent for sure) Dave made it easier for me to find what I need without delay. Dave flew back to the USA
BUSH BUNNY BRENDA BLOG: June 23, 2018 TOYS FOR OUR TOTS! Finding the right type toys for our resident orphans is a challenge since there are so many children of all ages. But nothing is too difficult for our Lord, and a toy was finally located for each child. Sally’s House showing off their new toys. Ostrich House children braving morning cold. Dolls for the girls, tiny cars and squeaky balls
DAVE’S BALLOON PARTY Since Dave didn’t arrive in time for the June 1st children’s party, he treated the Sunday School children to a balloon party last weekend. They had a blast, and there were a few “popped balloons” before it was all over. I am most grateful for Dave’s visit, and the children love him for sure! Everyone having fun celebrating at Dave’s balloon party! BELATED BIRTHDAY BASH! My friends,
NATIONAL CHILDREN’S DAY: A HUGE BIRTHDAY PARTY FOR BALAMA’S ORPHANS OVER 150 orphans and street children enjoyed a day of soccer, jump rope, and other games on June 1st. The fun was followed by a great feast with 70 kg (154 lbs.) of goat meat served over 80 kg (176 lbs.) of rice, a barrel of Mango flavored Koolaid, and boxes of candy and cookies for
TO ALL OUR ORPHANS UNLIMITED PRAYER PARTNERS: Please excuse this “NON BLOG”, as I call it, for we are deep into food buying as of today. (Moved 500 sacks or 30 TONS into our barn.) Dave Deboer’s plane had engine trouble when he left the USA. Result: His luggage was left behind and did not make it to South Africa until a day later. He arrived
