ZITO FACES SERIOUS MEDICAL ISSUE
ZITO, now 16, faces possible amputation of his left leg because the bone marrow has died (no bone marrow seen on X‑ray). Pastor Ramadan brought him into the Balama hospital last Thursday because he complained of severe groin pain on his left side. The Balama Dr. felt that an infection had begun in his bone marrow.
Zito last Thursday headed to Montepuez for x‑ray that changed his life forever.
He asked us to transfer Zito immediately to Montepuez Regional Hospital for x‑rays and treatment. After 2 days of analysis, Zito’s Dr. discovered that the bone appeared to be DRY inside. Never, ever a good sign.
As I write this, Zito is being transferred to the Pemba State Hospital along with his mother and uncle who will stay with him for emotional support. I will keep you informed next week as we find out what his Pemba Dr. plans to do.
WHO IS ZITO?
Zito entered our program when only 7 years old. Two years prior, while playing soccer, a bigger boy kicked his upper thigh, breaking his left femur bone.
His leg healed crooked, and he was unable to bear weight on either leg, as his right knee pained him a lot. He was pretty much home bound, and unable to get to school as it was over 2km (1.5 miles) away.
Zito in June 2017 healthy and able to walk after a Jesus miracle.
When Pastor Ramadan accepted Jesus into his heart at one of our evangelical meetings, he began a church in Namara Village. Zito and his Mom were 2 of the first people to accept Jesus, and fervent prayer began for his healing.
Zito was very anemic and suffered body abscesses from a systemic Staph infection for which we got him treatment. We immediately began a high protein diet with multi-vitamins and malnutrition food formula, for his was very malnourished. Thus began the long road to recovery, for his body was slow to respond, even with proper nutrition.
His leg showed no difference for 2 years, then 1 night, Zito was praying and heard the Lord’s voice say, “GET UP AND WALK!” He was afraid he would fail if he got out of bed, so when his mother went for water the next morning, he decided to try getting up. He took that all important step of faith and was able to stand without pain in his “good” leg!
Then he bravely stepped out with his crooked left leg and it HELD HIS WEIGHT! His left leg has never straightened out completely, but he was able to walk on it! He has proudly walked around his village every day since Jesus gave him that ability.
FERVENT PRAYER IS NEEDED FOR A MIRACLE TO KILL THE INFECTION AND REPLACE THE BONE MARROW IN HIS LEFT LEG.
JESUS IS THE MIRACLE WORKER, SO WE BELIEVE THAT NO AMPUTATION WILL BE NEEDED IN JESUS’ NAME!
Right now all else we are doing “pales” in comparison to what Zito faces, so I will fill you in on our other projects next week.
UPDATE: PASTOR FRED’S LEG FINALLY HEALING
X‑rays last week show the multiple breaks are finally healing! PTL!
He has been forbidden by his Surgeon for the last 4 months to put weight on that leg. Weight bearing was preventing the bones from knitting back together. It was broken in 3 places. We hope that one more month of crutch walking, and he should be able to come out of his lower leg cast.
Fred’s lower leg cast reinforced with gorilla tape
Pastor Fred broke his leg Dec. 24th, 2017, while on an Evangelical outreach with the BBC motorbike team. A village driver ran through a major road crossing and broad sided the motorbike that Fred and Carlitos Jorge were riding. Fred’s leg took the entire impact of that accident.
METAL RODS were placed into both bones in his lower right leg, but the bones have been very slow to heal. (That high speed impact BENT THE FRAME on their motorbike, which tells you how much force his leg received.)
BLESSINGS,
BUSH BUNNY BRENDA LANGE
AND THE BALAMA TEAM.
