FOUR BABIES IN HOSPITAL THIS WEEK! Two of our own, Madelina and Jumaida, as well as 2 orphan boys from our Baby Formula Assistance Program, had to be admitted for malaria last week.Madelina and the 2 boys were released this week, PTL! Madelina suffered severe side effects from the medicines, causing most of her skin to peel off like she had a severe sunburn. She is better now,
MADELINA STRUGGLING IN HOSPITAL Baby Madelina, 12 months, was admitted to the hospital last week for hidden malaria. An allergic reaction to the medications caused her abdomen and underarm skin to sluff off, looking like she had suffered 2nd degree burns. With a change in medications, this is now slowly healing. 30TH INFANT RECEIVED On January 18th, the malnutrition Dr. requested that we take in a 1 year old orphaned boy, Dionesio, 6kg/13.2 lbs. who was under the care of his mentally challenged Aunt.Dionesio was obviously very sick, and a lab test showed severe malaria with a Hemoglobin of only 5. BABY JUMAIDA IN HOSPITAL WITH “SILENT” MALARIA Wednesday started off rough as we had to call upon our Hospital ER supervisor, Rachide, to check out 7‑month-old Jumaida. His happy, healthy look was heartwarming after the scare he gave us a week ago when malaria hit him at 4 weeks of age! Malaria is tough on everyone, but to have it at 4 weeks of age is very dangerous.
